ALDERMAN RODERICK T. SAWYER ANNOUNCES 6TH WARD GUIDELINES FOR LARGE LOT PROGRAM

In response to the announced City of Chicago Large Lot program Alderman Roderick T. Sawyer of the Sixth (6th) Ward is presenting the standards that he will employ to give a letter of support for the city program.

Alderman Sawyer is requiring that applicants submit a copy of their city application specifically including the proposed purpose for the vacant lot as well as proof of their financial ability to improve and maintain the land as described.  Further all support will be subject to the Alderman’s and Community plans for the area, therefore if there is a long term project in the area the Alderman will not support derailing a community based project to transfer the land under this program.  Obtaining a letter of support will not require a meeting but does require a description of purpose and may be subject to a conference call.

“I applaud the city in their efforts of returning this land to the tax rolls.” Alderman Sawyer said, “However it is important that we act in a deliberative manner to ensure that we retain the character of the community and remain prepared for Englewood to grow and reach its full potential.”

Any questions can be submitted to the 6th Ward Service Office at 8001 S. King Drive and can be contacted at (773) 635-0006, or by email at Service@6thwardchicago.com
