State of Emergency - Time to Occupy Englewood Schools!!

More than half of the elementary schools in the Greater Englewood community are on probation (level 3) and some of these may soon be subject to school actions (closings, consolidation, etc).

Today, we heard that Stagg is on the list to go through the "turnaround" process.  Link here to view the article on CPS turnaround schools in the Tribune:,0,2376515.story

Here are few questions we would like to pose to readers:

  • Are the students in our neighborhood receiving the worst education CPS can offer?
  • We have an influx of charter schools in Englewood (Providence, Urban Prep, Betty Shabazz, Amandla, Noble College, and more) are these any better?
  • What are we doing wrong as a community that we are allowing this to happen to our students in the 60621 and 60636 zip code?
  • How can the community help "Occupy Englewood Schools" to assure our students have a fair chance in the real world??
  • What can RAGE or other stakeholders do to help combat this issue?

RAGE views this as a "State of Emergency" for Englewood school, so we welcome all comments!
