New Web Site Tells Smart Communities’ Story

The Englewood Portal is a project of the Smart Communities program, which works to increase digital access and use by families, businesses and other institutions in five Chicago neighborhoods. This week a new Smart Communties website launched, giving readers an easy way to keep up with the program. has information about all the programs in Smart Communties, including tech trainings, Summer Youth Summer Jobs, and Business Resource Networks, as well as background on the program, contact information, links to photos and video, and more.

The five Smart Communties in Chicago are Auburn Gresham, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, Humboldt Park and Pilsen. The new website also has info about these neighborhoods and the local partners that make Smart Communities possible.

The site's home page will feature the latest headlines from all five of the Smart Community portals, including the Englewood Portal.

"We're excited because the live feeds from the portals make it easy to keep up with what's going on in those neighborhoods," said Patrick Barry, a LISC scribe who worked on the web site. "Also it's a central place for sharing information about the whole Smart Communities program."
