Lift Every Voice Chicago at Reformation Lutheran Church, hosts BLACKSONIAN SUNDAY: 1st Birthday Salute to the new National Museum on African American History & Culture, September 24, 2017, 2 PM

1. Lift Every Voice Chicago, Journal of the African American Cultural Center at Chicagoland's Reformation Lutheran Church, will host BLACKSONIAN SUNDAY, 1st Anniversary Salute to the Smithsonian Institute's new National Museum on African American History & Culture (NMAAHC), September 24th, 2017, 2 PM, at the Church's Young Obama Fellowship Hall, 11310 S. Forest Avenue, in the historic Roseland/Pullman neighborhoods on the City's Far South Side.

2. "We are pleased to accept NMAAHC's generous invitation to serve as one of the myriad of local sites around the country, and internationally, volunteering to step forward to join them in celebrating their 1st Anniversary" remarks Rev. Joel Washington (Khunanpu Sangoma), Pastor of land-mark Reformation Lutheran Church Chicago ("Young Barack Obama's community organizing sanctuary").

3. "We also hope to use the occasion to screen, at our local faith-community's celebration, the distinguished Black woman filmmaker, AVA DUVERNAY'S short documentary, AUGUST 28: A Day in the Life of A People, commissioned by NMAAHC, via the National Museum's streaming capacity-if it is doable.  Otherwise, we'll show clips from one of Ms. Duvernay's other outstanding films" says Pastor Washington (Sangoma).

4. Reformation's BLACKSONIAN SUNDAY will definately feature however, A Love Supreme: the Faith-community's Jazz/Art Ministry, featuring George Nutall, keyboards, Tony Dozier, bass guitar, and Pastor Washingtlight (Sangoma), spoken word.  A candlelight ceremony, dedicated to uplifting the long life of the NMAAHC, will also be held segueing into a traditional 1st Anniversary Cake Cutting.

5. More, members of Reformation's African American Cultural Center Ministry will also join the festivities boosting the Faith-community's vision of its very own cultural center as well as the strategy to network with NMAAHC and other leading centers of Black culture around the country and internationally.

6. "Next year we hope to celebrate the Museum's 2nd Anniversary at its location.  We are looking to cooperate with them in organizing an educational fundraising tour to NMAAHC from the Metro Chicago area." adds Pastor Washington (Sangoma).
