Do you know what resources you have in your neighborhood? Did you know that they are only a few steps away, around a corner, down the street, or just a bus ride away? Well, Public Allies are here to assist you in locating and accessing those resources that are at your finger tip!
Public Allies is a national non-profit organization that aids other non-profits in their capacity building efforts. We have been split into groups to do a Team Service Project(TSP). Our group is known as Creative Connections(CC) and we have joined Imagine Englewood if (IEi) which is located at 730 W 69th street; to map out some resources, right in your neighborhood! We will be canvassing sections of Englewood and talking to people throughout the community at various events and locations to ask them about the resources they know of, as well as inform them of the resources they may not be aware of. CC and IEi will also be working in unison from time to time with the Englewood youth who frequent IEi to locate resources that will aid in violence prevention and resource accessibility for Englewood residents. The purpose of this outreach is not only to inform the community about the resources available to them but, to also empower the residents to take pride in their neighborhood. We want the community members to know what they have at home and encourage them to utilize those resources. We take pride in community building by taking action through service.
