Orientation for Greater West Town's Skills Training Programs:

 

Short-term, no-nonsense, technical, hands-on training at no cost for eligible low-income applicants.  Both programs include job placement services, transportation assistance, and have a supportive learning environment.  Come for a tour, question and answer session, and see the amazing value of this learning opportunity for awesome careers in:

1) Wood Products Manufacturing

In only 15 weeks, learn the skills needed for rewarding entry-level positions in cabinetmaking, furniture making, exhibit building, and the wood products industry.  Entry salaries range from $12 - $16 per hour, growing to $17 - $40 per hour with years of on-the-job experience.  Fast track through training to careers as skilled cabinetmaker apprentice, bench carpenter, machine operator, CNC operator, assembler, furniture fabricator, or solid surface counter fabricator.  Study CNC operation, print reading, precision measuring, and cabinetmaking techniques.  M-F, 8 - 2:30.  


2) Shipping & Receiving Training

Students in this 12-week program learn inventory control, RF scanners, computerized warehouse management, OSHA safety, and fork lifting skills.  Entry salaries range from $11 - $15 per hour for positions as shipping and receiving clerk, forklift operator, warehouse associate, material handler, order picker, and dock worker.  Every manufacturer, warehousing company, and distributor needs reliable employees with these logistical skills!  M-F, 8:30 - 3:30.
