Oak Street Health, Humana and VFW Feeding America Drive

More than one in four veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan struggle to put food on the table. And the unfortunate truth is, many of those veterans suffering in your community do not qualify for federal nutrition assistance, making it even more difficult to gain access to proper nutrition.
To alleviate food insecurity for veteran men and women, Humana, the VFW, and Oak Street Health have partnered to host the Feeding America Drive through 20 collection points across the Midwest. Running from April 19-May 19 in tandem with National Military Appreciation Month, the food drive will provide for struggling veterans and raise mainstream awareness of hunger proliferation within the veteran community.
The food drive will be held at the nearest Oak Street Health location in Blue Island: 3046 W 127th St, Blue Island, IL 60406. The Drive begins April 19th at 8 a.m. For more information, visit feedingamerica.org or call (708) 377-7920 to find out how you can participate. It is free to donate.
