FIRST ANNUAL OPERATION CHANGE CHICAGO WALKATHON 2017
Operation Change Chicago (OCC) is hosting its First Annual Walkathon.
OCC is a 501c3 non-profit organization born out of a collaboration between African American and
Latina women aimed at addressing healthcare disparities which plague this community.
OCC’s goal is to raise awareness of musculoskeletal health disparities and its link to
obesity, arthritis, depression and other co-morbid conditions. This awareness is achieved
through the use of culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate programs focused on
healthcare education and physical movement. Through the efforts of OCC Volunteers, we
are increasing knowledge and movement and impacting women’s health and changing
lives.
OCC is self-funded through contributions and donations. It functions through the
voluntary efforts of a group of committed African American and Latina women seeking to
positively impact lives in their community. OCC leadership, full-time volunteers from the
community, also functions as staff to execute these programs.

The First Annual Operation Change Chicago “5K Walkathon”
Saturday, September 16, 2017
Registration 8:00 A.M. | Walk to start at 9:15 AM
At McKinley Park located at 2210 W. Pershing Rd.
Walkathons are a great way to bring community members together for a common cause.
Participants of a walkathon do not compete or race against other people, or even against
the time of a speed clock. Walkathon participants compete against themselves.
Participating Walkers must be officially registered by:
September 16th 9 A.M.
Registration Format: $15.00 for Adults; $5.00 for youth under 16 years of age.
